Myst 2 (Riven) for Mac OSX

Play the old classic Riven, Myst 2, for Mac OSX. Just download this great open source program and insert your old Riven CD or DVD and start playing. Besides the original disc, you will also need at least OS 10.6.8. Myst was a great point and click adventure game from back in my day. You can easily pick up the CD or DVD at a garage sale or ebay for a small amount of change, and you’ll be reliving a classic in no time. Download it from the Box File Widget or from their homepage. Let’s check out some of the release notes.

Riven X 0.9.7 is a compatibility release that addresses a number of issues on Snow Leopard and Lion. Riven X 0.9.7 requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 “Snow Leopard” or 10.7 “Lion”.

Engine improvements and bug fixes

  • Riven X now requires Snow Leopard or later. Older versions of Mac OS X had too many bugs and were too hard to test to continue support.
  • Updated ffmpeg to the latest version.
  • Switched to the LLVM Compiler 3.0, which yields faster code.

About Mac Emulators
I am an Old School gamer with roots in emulation and gaming. I love video games, but mostly I love the old ones from our past. Emulation is a way to experience all these old games on your personal computer.

  1. there’s any way to play myst 1 too?

I would try using Boxer. Boxer is a great DosBox front end. If DosBox doesn’t do the trick, try running a Windows environment in Virtual Box. Good luck. Cheers!

  2. give me more info please 🙂

    thanks in advance

The download link above (http://www.devklog.net/rivenx/ ) itself links to a launchpad.net address whose link to the application appears to be broken. Is there another way to download Riven X? (I’ve no idea what “Box File Widget” is.)

You can ignore this post. Figure out the “Box File Widget” thing. In the immortal words of a great philosopher, “D’oh!”

      • Mac Emulators says:

It’s all good. The home page is the only place where the downloads are accessible, within the Box File Widget (Right hand side of the homepage). It’s unfortunate, but it gets the job done.

please give me more information about how to find it… i cant find the “Box File Widget”

    • Mac Emulators says:

It’s on the right hand side of the blog home page. It is similar to drop box. It is a window with files in it and again, can be found on the Mac Emulators blog homepage on the right hand side if you scroll down a little. Cheers!
