Virtual Box Updated (v.4.1.4)

Virtual box has been updated to version 4.1.4. It has seen a couple updates since I last blogged about it, but things have been crazy around here and I haven’t gotten around to blogging about it. For those of you who don’t know, Virtual Box is a great way to run Windows on a Mac. You can also run other operating systems if you choose to do so, and all within a “virtual box” running on your Mac. Download the latest version from the Box File Widget (I had to break it up into parts) or from their homepage. The following is a list of the changes from the changelog.

The Direction of the Mac Emulators Blog

Hey there, hi there, ho there. I just thought I would spend a little time describing some of the various changes and the direction of this blog. I started this blog because there was a lack of emulator blogs for the Mac OSX base. There are a few really good emulation web sites, blogs, and Mac specific emulation web sites.

However, they don’t cover everything. Gerrit’s new version of Sixty Force might be on one blog but not on another. You also have to go scouring for too much of the good information about emulators for the Mac or other various cool programs. Thus, Mac Emulators was born.

Over the past few months I have slowly begun to realize that there is a considerable amount of down time in emulation news for the Mac. Therefore, I decided to write about other cool electronic gadgets and gizmos that cross my path. If I like it or I want it, I figure you the reader might like it as well. Things like my new phone and my new media server gadget made it on to the page. I have decided to stay in this direction and you will continue to read about other interesting things outside of Macintosh emulation and gaming.

I would also like to take this time to thank the contributor that donated to the Computers for Kids cause. There is a link at the bottom right hand side of the Mac Emulators home page and I would encourage others to do the same. Typing and other various skills the computer can offer a child can contribute to the progression of their education and help them to do better in the future. Thank you again to the wonderful person who donated.

I encourage anyone and everyone reading this blog to comment, rate, link, or email us here at Mac Emulators. I would love to here what you think or recommend.

MAME for OSX Updated

The latest version of SDL MAME for Mac OSX has been released. It is now up to date with the .135u2 (RB) baseline. There are two different versions so, make sure you grab the one that applies to you. There is a 32 bit universal binary and an Intel specific 64 bit binary. They are both in the Box File Widget on the right.

You can also check out the homepage.

Mac Emulators Update

I received a comment asking me to do an article about gaming controllers for Mac and Immediately started researching various controllers. I want to test a few out personally, so as to have a better grip on what’s what. This is a work in progress. I want to welcome anyone and everyone who has any thoughts, comments, or ideas for this blog to get in contact with me. It was also brought to my attention that the Mac Emulators email was not easy to find. It is now posted as a link at the top of the page, under the search toolbar. If you were to check out my WordPress profile you would also find it there, along with other various tid-bits of information about myself and the blog. I am also currently working on testing out the Dreamcast emulator I found for Mac OSX. So far I haven’t had any luck. It won’t load a CD or a disk image and keeps crashing. I will have to test various bios files and different games but, I’m hoping to get it working. It would be really rad to run Marvel Vs. Capcom in a Dreamcast emulator on my Mac, or maybe even Resident Evil 2. I will also be adding new files to the Box File Widget soon. Don’t fret. The blog will have more downloads, content, and hopefully a personal spin on it. I’m hoping to do full reviews on the more popular emulators and gaming hardware available for the Mac. I just finished SAMCRO and I have to be up in 5 hours for work. Take care intronet!
